Mulching

Spring and fall are perfect times to add mulch to your garden. Small and large gardens alike benefit from this practice. Mulch keeps the weeding to a minimum, holds the moisture to help with water conservation, protects the plants, and makes your landscape look clean and well kept.
Mulch comes in a variety of mediums.  I prefer double ground hardwood if available.  I also like to purchase in bulk instead of bags since it is way more cost effective.
Last year I added cotton burr compost as a mulch material. It is a great way to add compost to your soil without tilling. This year I will add the double ground hardwood because it is not recommended to add the cotton burr year after year.
Try the mulch practice.  It makes gardening a lot easier!
