Controlling the Bullies

PictureSometimes we have certain plants that like to “take over”. They usually either spread through roots or seeds. If they spread through seeds, one way to help control their aggressiveness is by removing the seed pods before they drop. You can simply clip the seed pods off the plants and discard them or save them to plant or share.

If the plant is an annual that is going to seed, you might consider digging the entire plant up, saving some of the seed pods to scatter for next growing season, and replanting the area with something new.  If you don’t do some kind of “control”, you might have thousands of volunteer plants next year that you do not want.
