About

Dawn Denton was born and raised on a farm in western Colorado. It was there that she was first introduced to the wonderful world of gardening. Her parents were stewards of the land, and they took the time to teach her and her siblings the value of nature.

She attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She taught 2nd and 4th grade for several years.

While teaching, Dawn spent several summers working at a local nursery learning about the growth habits and maintenance of plants that grow in Northwest Arkansas. She received her Arkansas Master Gardener certification in 2003. Her time spent working with the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation Department from 2001-2007 also gave her a strong foundation in garden design.  She was responsible for some of the design and most of the care of the City gardens which included parks, trails, adopt-a-spots, and public buildings.

Siloam Springs, Arkansas was her home for almost 40 years.  Recently she and her husband have moved back to Western Colorado where she started her gardening journey as a child.

She is a certified Arkansas Master Gardener and published author of five garden themed children's books:  Ruby and Rocket, Oliver the Toad, Betzy the Bumblebee, Mabel the Ladybug, and The Last Leaf.  She has combined her love of nature and her love of teaching into a successful business educating, inspiring, and encouraging others about gardening and the connection we have to nature.
